Why our products are ideal for airport maintenance

Our most preferred product for airport maintenance is our award-winning Stripe Hog Waterblasting System. When rubber is removed from a runway, it is about restoring the friction; not about removing the black stain. If a rubber removal operation is removing 100% of the black stain, then it is very likely that a portion of the concrete surface is being removed as well and that results in loss of runway life. With properly done water blasting, there should be ZERO negative impact, which means no loss of runway life. The Stripe Hog Waterblasting System uses 40,000 psi to remove rubber deposits to restore friction with the least amount of negative impact to the surface.

The Stripe Hog can also be used to rejuvenate airfield markings whether they are composed of thermoplastic, waterborne paint, or other materials; however, the Surface Hog Surface Cleaner is specifically made for such applications as well. Utilizing 7,250 psi, the Surface Hog uses high-pressure water to clean and prepare surfaces, rejuvenate markings, and even clean porous asphalt, making it ideal for airfield parking lots as well.

If you are removing markings with a Stripe Hog, chances are you are intending to apply new markings as well. Our Thermo Hog and Paint Hog machines can lay down thermoplastic or waterborne paint, respectively. The Paint Hog comes in an airless format which includes airport patterns built into its programmable pattern system.

Finally, if you have thick buildup on your markings and need something tougher than ultra-high-pressure water, we offer a Grinding Head attachment for our Stripe Hog SH8000 models that can work in conjunction with 1 and 2 head configurations. In addition, we also manufacture the Rumble Hog which is a 3-in-1 machine. While the rumble strip functions isn’t ideal for airports, the ability to grind pavement markings offers an alternative solution for marking removal.
